Slideshows Scanning Photos Be sure they is no empty white space around your photo after you scan it. This reduces the quality of the picture and can make it unusuable. Scan your photos into JPG format at a file size of about 2-4 megabytes. Clean the glass on your scanner before scanning your photos and as necessary while you are scanning. Picture Size and Orientation Use photos that are at a landscape orientation rather than portrait for your slide show whenever possible. If you can crop a portrait orientation to landscape this is good as well. Photos that are in portrait orientation will normally be cropped by us when possible to fill the screen.
